A Primer on Relative Standard Deviation (RSD)

Relative Standard Deviation

Recalling what you learned in algebra class may be the best way to explain Relative Standard Deviation (RSD).  RSD is the Standard Deviation from a pool of data over the average, thus the standard deviation relative to the average or the relative standard deviation.

In the video below, Chemical Solutions President Brian LaBine offers a primer on RSD covering answers to questions such as:

  • What’s the relation to elemental impurity testing and validation?
  • How do we get the calculation when we tell you what an RSD is?
  • Where is RSD applied?
  • What are the variations of RSD?
