SGS is a world-class testing laboratory specializing in trace level elemental analysis. The Harrisburg site was established in 1995 and has provided testing through Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and Inductively Couple Plasma-Optical Emissions Spectrometry (ICP-OES) since 1997. We are committed to the analysis of metals, minerals, other elements, small molecules, vitamins, and amino acids. It is with this dedication that we have emerged as a leader in elemental testing.

Our familiarity with many different industries, including the environmental, pharmaceutical, industrial, specialty chemical, dietary supplement, cosmetic, and toxicological disciplines, has given us a broad understanding of a wide variety of sample types. SGS is uniquely qualified to take on your project or ongoing quality assurance testing.

Our Technology

SGS provides analysis through Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) for trace metal analysis and more. These techniques generally have less interference and are also faster than both Atomic Absorption (AA) and Graphite Furnace AA (GFAA) when analyzing for multiple elements in a single sample. Detection limits are usually lower than GFAA. Its productivity, accuracy, and precision at low levels, make ICP-MS and ICP-OES the predominant choices for research, regulatory, and quality assurance applications. Because of these features, SGS has the ability to analyze an abundance of matrices for most of the naturally occurring elements.
